About 

Rose Mansavage is a dog trainer with approximately 8 years of formal canine training experience.  Rose grew up with many animals around her when she was young.  From chickens and peacocks, to goats and horses (and everything in between) Rose has always been fascinated in observing and learning about the behavior of her furry (and feathery) friends.  She went to school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology.  Her early inspiration and awe was based on wolves and their pack nature.

In 2009 she became a police K9 handler with the City of Madison Police Department.  She worked with K9 Martie (right), a Belgian Malinois from the Czech Republic (sponsored by Animart Pet Store in Madison, WI).  Her initial training was comprised of a month long K9 handler course in North Carolina.  There she learned how a high performing and intelligent police dog worked.  She honed skills such as reading canine behavior and the imperativeness of having near perfect timing for rewarding and correcting her canine partner.

Next she was partnered with K9 Falko (left), a Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd cross. She continued to build her skills until she was promoted to a Sergeant position in 2016.

After leaving the police department, in 2019, she volunteered with Custom Canine Service Dog Academy to train an adult boxer named Titan. Titan was trained and paired up to serve a U.S. Veteran.

​Next came an adult German Shepherd named Ritchie. Ritchie was a progeny of the famous "Rumor" from Kent Boyles at Kenlyn German Shepherds (Rumor won "Best in Show" at the Westminster Dog Show in 2017). 
​The following year Rose trained and donated "Rogue" a German Shepherd from her own breeding program.  One of Rogue's sister's was also donated to the program. In 2021, Rose donated another female Shepherd to the program where she in currently being trained to be a service dog for another U.S. Veteran.

​As a AKC registered German Shepherd breeder, Rose is well versed in puppy development. Having working dogs also means that she is familiar with dogs' needs for enrichment and exercise.

Rose has worked with a variety of dogs ranging in breeds and age.  Some of the areas she can help in include: puppy manners, basic obedience, advanced obedience, tracking, scent detection, and most behavioral modifications.

She is currently a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and is continually working on broadening the depth of her knowledge. Currently she is working on puppy agility with one of her German Shepherds with the hopes to compete in the future.
